Based out of the Tinsley Industrial Estate close to Sheffield’s city centre, the Sheffield team are responsible for commercial drain unblocking and repairs throughout the city and the broader South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire regions.

Lanes is the biggest privately owned specialist drainage contractor in the country, with more than 2,000 team members based all over the UK and Ireland. We play a key role in keeping drains and sewers clear for homeowners, and also offer many services for businesses too - our Sheffield depot specialises in CCTV surveying and advising commercial organisations on how to properly dispose of fats, oils and grease.

Who we employ at the Sheffield depot

HGV driver/operators

We are always on the lookout for qualified HGV operators to join our team in Sheffield and fill one of our driver/operator job vacancies. You will get behind the wheel of one of our distinctive fleet of Lanes vehicles, but that is just the start - this is much more than a basic driver role.

As a vehicle operator, you will play a leading role in carrying out essential drainage engineering, repair and maintenance work. You will interact with customers, providing support and the great customer service that Lanes are known for. You will also get to use sophisticated engineering tools to complete drainage work. Before you start in this role, we will give you extensive training on how to operate this equipment.

Prior drainage industry experience is beneficial but not essential for these roles. If you are a professional driver with a background in other sectors, this is an exciting opportunity to retrain and take your skills further.

Drainage engineers

As one of the largest employers of drainage engineers in the UK, our engineering crew are at the heart of everything we do at Lanes Group.

Our qualified engineers in Sheffield take the lead in surveying, repairing and unblocking drains and sewers across the region. They get to work with cutting-edge technology, using it to serve domestic and commercial clients alike.

These skilled jobs will give you a highly competitive pay rate, alongside the opportunity to gain hands-on training from some of the industry’s most knowledgeable engineers.

Groundworkers

Drainage projects often require renovation and excavation work, whether small-scale or extensive. This ranges from straightforward excavations of individual pipes to large-scale digs that involve moving hundreds of tonnes of material.
As a groundworker or small civils worker, you will be in charge of finding the most efficient way to complete a job while keeping disruption for residents or property owners to a minimum.

Do you have the ability to carry out physical outdoor work, and enjoy being part of a team? Then our excavation operatives and assistants roles based in Sheffield may be ideal for you.

Groundworkers

Our office-based staff in Sheffield are an essential component of our overall success. They administer, plan, manage and support all of the practical work we do. When you step into one of our office-based roles, you will work to build strong relationships with our clients, from homeowners dealing with drainage issues, to business leaders working on major civil infrastructure projects. You will play a role in influencing our regional strategy, and give our field-based teams and drivers everything they need to complete their work efficiently.
