We play a key role in delivering drainage services across the South East, working closely with our Slough utility hub. Together, we support Thames Water’s 15 million customers with planned and emergency maintenance. From civil engineering repairs to domestic drain maintenance, our work keeps communities connected and critical systems functioning safely.

Our teams in the region operate more than 350 specialist drainage vehicles, tackling more than 1,000 maintenance jobs every day on the largest and most complex utilities contract in the UK. We offer full training and development for everyone who joins our team.

HGV driver/operators

Looking for a driving job that does more than just transport? Our HGV driver/operator roles combine professional driving with hands-on drainage engineering. You’ll get behind the wheel of a modern, fully equipped vehicle, and use cutting-edge equipment to assist with repairs, clear blockages and maintain infrastructure for homes and businesses across Oxfordshire.

These roles don’t require prior drainage experience, just a clean HGV licence and a desire to expand your skills - we will provide full training and development to help you succeed.

Roles include:

Drainage engineers and operatives

Our drainage engineers in Oxfordshire are essential to everything we do. You will be responsible for imaging, repairing and unblocking sewers and drains, supporting both emergency response and routine maintenance.

From using advanced CCTV technology to working on complex civil engineering projects, no two days are the same. You’ll also be the friendly face customers see first when they need help most.

Roles include:

Office-based

We couldn’t tackle 1,000 maintenance jobs from our Slough hub alone without the support of our highly organised office-based staff in Kidlington. This team is responsible for planning, scheduling, customer service and operational support. They keep our field teams moving and make sure customers stay informed and at ease during the work.

If you have an aptitude for problem-solving and enjoy building a rapport with colleagues and customers, an office-based position at Lanes could be perfect for you.
