The Tyne and Wear depot is based in Washington, south east of Newcastle. All of our depots use advanced drainage technology, but what makes our Washington depot stand out is their use of CityFlex, a smaller and more versatile jet-vac unit that ensures we can access all types of sites, including tight spots on industrial sites and height-restricted multi-storey car parks.

Equipped with this unique technology, our Newcastle team are responsible for providing drainage and sewer services across the Tyne and Wear region, including emergency drain unblocking and routine maintenance, for both domestic and commercial clients.

Who we employ at the Newcastle depot

HGV driver/operators

We offer a wide range of driver/operator job vacancies in Newcastle, giving qualified HGV operators the chance to develop their skills and learn new disciplines, above and beyond what would be expected of a standard driver role.

Lanes driver/operators are expected to get directly involved in our essential engineering, repair and maintenance work, learning to use our top-of-the-range tools and jet vacuumation equipment while also providing responsive customer service to a wide range of clients.

Prior drainage industry experience is a plus, but not essential, as all members of staff will receive extensive training. That could make this an ideal opportunity for drivers from other professional backgrounds to pursue a new line of work.

Engineers

As the biggest privately owned specialist drainage contractor in the country, Lanes Group are among the UK’s leading employers of drainage engineers. Our team in Newcastle plays play a pivotal role in helping us meet demand for our services, and are responsible for imaging, repairing and unblocking drains and sewers across the region.

These highly skilled jobs will give you the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry’s most experienced engineers, utilising sophisticated CCTV imaging equipment and high-powered jetting technology. You will also interact directly with customers and clients as representatives of Lanes.

Roles include:

• CCTV drainage engineers and assistants
• Jetting engineers and assistants

Groundworkers

Our groundworkers and small civils workers are in charge of the renovation and excavation work associated with our drainage projects, carrying out everything from straightforward excavations of individual pipes to large-scale processing of material weighing hundreds of tonnes.

Candidates will need to be well-equipped for physical outdoor work, and to be able to work efficiently, as minimising disruption for the property owner is key.

Roles include:

• Excavation operatives and assistants

Office-based

Our office-based workers and administrative staff in Newcastle are essential to everything we do. They work tirelessly to provide our field engineers and drivers with the information they need to resolve emergency situations, while keeping clients in the loop at all times.

Our Newcastle depot is currently looking to expand our office-based workforce with highly organised recruits with an aptitude for cooperative, collaborative teamwork. By joining our team, you’ll be playing an indispensable role in helping Lanes maintain its industry-leading reputation.
