Groundworker Jobs at Lanes

At Lanes Group, we’re recruiting for a range of groundworker jobs to strengthen our skilled, nationwide team. If you’re hard-working, physically fit and ready to take on outdoor work in all conditions, this could be the right move for you.

Our groundworkers are essential to the construction and drainage projects we deliver across the UK. They prepare sites, carry out excavations, support the installation and maintenance of deep drainage systems and other essential groundworks. You’ll be part of a close-knit team working on a variety of sites across your region, from urban locations to more remote areas.

Who are Lanes?

Lanes is the UK’s largest privately owned drainage contractor, with 25 regional offices and depots across the country. As such, we are often hiring multiple candidates for both open and Monday-to-Friday opportunities, and we can provide varied long-term and temporary contract opportunities for groundworkers, with plenty of pathways for career development.

The skilled groundworker jobs we offer

Take a look below for more information on the roles we have to offer:

Due to the range of fields we provide for, some opportunities may require you to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work. We often work on projects based in urban locations, but frequently help those located in more remote areas of the UK as well. Having an up-to-date, clean UK driving licence can help, but is not usually necessary.

Working as a groundworker is hands-on and physically demanding. You’ll be:

  • Preparing and maintaining sites before and during construction work.
  • Excavating trenches and areas for drainage, foundations and other infrastructure.
  • Assisting team members with installation and repair work.
  • Handling concreting and other surface finishing tasks.
  • Following strict health and safety procedures at all times to protect yourself and your team.

You’ll be outdoors in all weather, often working long days, so physical fitness is essential. Experience in groundworks or construction skills is an advantage, but we also recruit applicants who are willing to learn.

Gender is no barrier to a long and successful career at Lanes, and we employ a large number of women in various roles across our entire organisation. Discover how we help women in the workplace here at Lanes.
