Are you looking for an administrator support role at one of the UK’s biggest and most successful utility companies? If so, Lanes Group is offering a wide range of field support jobs for skilled professionals, including administrator support, business support and field service manager jobs.
Here at Lanes, we are highly dependent on the efficiency and diligence of our office-based staff to help us coordinate our nationwide activities and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service. Our field support staff play a key role in this, and we are always looking to expand our team to support our future growth.
These roles include application and business support manager jobs, as well as administrator support, loss adjuster support and wage support. As the UK’s largest privately owned specialist drainage contractor, we rely on these staff members to assist our regional managers and administrators in carrying out their practical work as efficiently as possible.
We are looking for candidates with good attention to detail and an aptitude for using management and organisational tools and software. By joining us as an experienced field service manager, you’ll receive dynamic career opportunities, a competitive salary, generous employment benefits and varied responsibilities while working for one of the drainage and wastewater industry’s most respected organisations.
What’s more, we strive to be an equal opportunities employer, and therefore welcome applications from underrepresented areas of the community. No positive and driven individual will ever be stopped from succeeding at Lanes because of their background.

Field support: responsibilities
Administrative support workers will be based within their local depot and will assist with the investigation of customer complaints to ensure a satisfactory outcome. They will liaise with loss adjustors to mitigate high-value insurance claims and investigate any claims the customer may have for damage to property or personal possessions.
Arranging training courses for new engineers will be part of this role, along with scheduling competency and probation reviews for managers to carry out as and when required. Business and management support staff will also be asked to cover for the depot administrator in their absence, a responsibility that will involve:
- collating wage information for engineers for payroll to process;
- ensuring the correct hours are paid;
- logging annual leave;
- and collating a weekly report for sickness and absences, along with other administration duties.
As such, it will be a significant advantage for candidates to have some knowledge of the kind of systems and databases we use to manage these activities. At Lanes, we utilise the Cascade HR and payroll system for wage support, as well as the Microsoft AX tool for handling purchase orders and FieldViewer software for collating engineers’ working hours.
More than anything else, we’re focused on hiring skilled communicators who are highly organised and dedicated to high standards of customer service. Though the ability to operate well under pressure is also essential, no single individual will ever be working completely alone, as our policy at Lanes Group is to make sure that all staff members are provided with the supportive working environment they need to thrive as part of our depot teams.
Salary and working conditions
Lanes Group is known for offering competitive rates of pay to all of our employees, and our administrative and business support workers are no exception to this. You can therefore expect to negotiate a generous starting salary that reflects your level of expertise and experience.
However, there is more to the Lanes company culture than simply a healthy paycheque. Office employees will work from Monday to Friday in an engaging professional environment that is geared towards enjoyment as much as productivity, so you’ll always feel you can count on the help of your colleagues.
Working at Lanes also gives employees access to a number of attractive employment benefits to encourage and reward long-term loyalty and job satisfaction. As a top employer, we offer regular training to help staff develop their skills and capabilities over time, as well as 23 days of holiday entitlement in addition to bank holidays.
Employees can also access an optional company-wide health scheme, a workplace pension and childcare support, plus free on-site car parking across 80% of our national network.
Skills, qualifications and experience
Although previous administration experience is ideal, we are primarily looking for able, enthusiastic and passionate candidates for our field support roles, rather than focusing on any specific prior work history or formal qualifications. New employees can rest assured that they will receive training to ensure they have the skills they need to succeed, regardless of their professional background.
The most important attribute for a Lanes administrative support worker is a proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, as the job will require you to relay information between customers and colleagues.
The ideal candidate should also be able to demonstrate a positive, can-do approach to their work, as well as a real drive to learn and improve, in addition to a dedication to maintaining a high standard across everything they do.
Future prospects
Joining Lanes Group as a field support worker could be the first step towards a range of exciting and dynamic career opportunities, as we are an organisation that prides itself on investing in talent and helping employees gain new skills, take on additional responsibilities and achieve their potential.
We currently employ more than 2,200 people across our 25 regional offices and utility hubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales, meaning it is possible to find work with Lanes wherever you are in the UK.
